The film currently holds a 26% "rotten" on Rotten Tomatoes with an average of 4.6 out of 10 and a critic consensus that reads "Noisy, overproduced, and thinly written, Green Lantern squanders an impressive budget and decades of comics mythology." Richard Roeper remarked in his review of the film, "He's an ambiguously.heroic hero." Green Lantern received mixed to negative reviews from critics and audiences. Ryan Reynolds redeemed himself from Green Lantern 5 years later by portraying the more successful Deadpool, which was a more suitable role for him than this one.The music by James Newton Howard was well composed.Certain supporting characters that were in the comics appear and are nods to the original comics (e.g.A few funny moments like when Hal said "To infinity, and beyond" (a reference to Buzz Lightyear's iconic phrase) while trying to figure out what the Green Lantern official oath is. ![]() The supporting cast members do a decent job for what they were given.There are a lot of good fight scenes, even with the poor cinematography.The Arrowverse crossover event "Crisis on Infinite Earths" also establishes that the 2011 film version takes place on the world of Earth-12, for no reason.Aside from the poor characterization, the supporting characters are weak.Bad cinematography, making the film look dark and bright at the same time.The film tried hard to set up both a sequel and the entire DC Extended Universe and failed at both planned tasks.His mask is by far the worst, as it makes his eyes look completely white. For some reason, they decided to design the suit itself with a visible muscular system, as you can see individual lines representing muscle tendons. Hal's costume looks terrible and downright creepy. ![]()
